Do Online Poker Sites Cheat?
I'll preface everything by saying I have no hard evidence I can offer which proves Poker gambling sites are fixed, rigged or crooked. I realize these poker sites have become household names with the advent of televised poker, but put a pig in a tuxedo and it's still a pig.
I'm not a big time gambler and you'll never see me at the World Series of Poker, don't have the $10,000 entry fee to lose, but I truly do love my poker. Until Texas Hold 'em became the rage I leaned more to 7 card stud. There was a time not too long ago I could boast that I had played poker at every casino in Las Vegas.
I have played poker in Tunica, Atlantic city and on several cruise liners while sailing the high seas with my wife. Some people collect stickers, bells, tea cups or other type of souvenir from the various states or cities they visit. I collect poker chips from the various casinos I've player poker in, only $1 chips, and I've collected over 100 of them.
I only tell you all of this because I thought it fair to give you a brief glimpse of my history, or addiction, of playing the game of poker. I've played thousands of hands of poker.
I began playing internet poker at one particular site, but then the Feds got involved and shut online poker down, couldn't collect any taxes from the action. Then, for whatever reason, online poker was back in business and so was I.
I joined a high profile poker site because at the time, I could use my credit card to deposit money in my account, that has since stopped. To me it's a hassle to set up an account at different sites so when I start out with a site I pretty well stay with it, unless something horrible happens to induce me to move.
I played poker on the site daily, sometimes 3 or 4 tournaments. I always played tournaments versus heads up, because if you did win or place, the payoff was bigger for a smaller investment. ROI shall I say.
I had been riding a particularly bad losing streak and chalked it up to just one of those things that happens in gambling. I was so consumed in what I had to be doing wrong, the players were reading me or somehow I was tipping my hand, that I really didn't pay much attention to the computer generated cards were falling.
One day I was having a particularly frustrating time, I wasn't losing any hands, I couldn't even get cards in which to play a hand. This perked my curiosity and I began noting more the way the cards and games were being played and less of whether I won or not.
I detailed 1 specific day, three specific tournaments and 243 specific dealt hands. Of these 243 hands I was dealt, when I saw dealt I mean my two hole cards, I played 22 hands. Only 22 hands out of 243 in which I was dealt hole cards good enough to try and play. For instance a pair or two high cards suited or Ace King. I was dealt three pairs, 1 pair of 7s and Aces twice. When I had pocket aces everyone folded before I could bet, both times!
Another specific day I recorded 14 hands being dealt which resulted in four of a kind. I can safely and honestly say I saw more four of a kind hands dealt that 1 day than I have witnessed while playing live poker in over 12 years. You say, well that's the random dealing of a computer. You saying cards dealt in casinos by humans are not random? That everyone knows what's coming? I don't think so.
My friendly warning to you as far as playing poker online at these sites, expect the unexpected, impossible hands are dealt on a daily basis and don't put too much money on the line. You never know if you're the only one seeing your cards.
